On the morning of October 24th, 2010, the United States Baseball Association will be conducting a College Coaches Showcase Camp. This camp will be held at Judson University, Elgin, IL

Arm trouble kept Erik Smoy from playing for Palatine's American Legion baseball team last summer. A little trouble at the plate kept Smoy from getting much playing time for the Blue Jays in the Cook County tournament.

As often happens with a first-year team in a fledgling league, the Steel City Aces spent about half of this summer trying to get things figured out. But then that elusive something clicked. And now, the Aces are involved in the Great Plains Baseball League playoffs, hoping to win the South Division regional and qualify for the league World Series in Rockford.

St. Laurence earned its fourth walk-off win of the summer state playoffs Monday, edging Providence Catholic 3-2 in an elimination game of the Phil Lawler Summer Classic at Benedictine University in Lisle. St. Laurence (23-4), which fell 5-3 to Lake Zurich earlier in the day, advances to a 12:30 p.m. game today against the loser of a 10 a.m. contest between Neuqua Valley and Lake Zurich.
