On Deck Sports Academy is hosting The Future Big Leaguers Pre-Season Camp. This camp allows players to work on batting, fielding, and pitching. They will also be introduced to techniques such as base-running, balance, and the fundamentals of the game of baseball.

Ages: 6-10
Dates: February 8 - March 1, 2009
Day: Sundays
Time: 1:00pm-2:30pm

Cost: $70 (or $20 a session)
Registration deadline: Feb 7

Pre-Season Camp Featured Instructors--Marcus Nettles & Billy Bryk

MARCUS NETTLES –
HITTING-OUTFIELD INSTRUCTOR & HEAD BASE-RUNNING INSTRUCTOR/SOFTBALL INSTRUCTOR
Marcus has a wealth of experience that he shares with his students on proper base-running techniques. Over the last five (5) years, Marcus has conducted youth training camps during his off-season. Marcus attended Whitney Young Magnet School, where he received All-State honors his senior year as well as being recognized as a top-50 senior by Baseball America. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates the same year. He attended Miami (FL) and was a member of TWO CWS National Championship teams – at the end of his junior year, he was drafted by the San Diego Padres (11th Round). Marcus played four years in the Padres organization reaching Double-A before moving into independent ball. As a professional, he led his league in stolen bases four (4) times [Northwest League (2001), California League (2002), Can-Am League (2006) & Atlantic League (2007)]. He was named Independent League Player of the Year by the Chicago Pitch & Hit Club in 2006. Marcus emphasizes quickness and proper fundamentals in his teaching technique.

BILLY BRYK –
SENIOR PITCHING INSTRUCTOR
Billy Bryk is currently a Chicago Cubs recommending scout. In 2008, He was bench coach for The Edmonton Cracker Cats team in the Golden league. He worked on player development for the Philadelphia Phillies and was bullpen catcher for The Brockton Rox in the Can Am League in 2007. From 2005-2006 Billy played for West Stirling Indians Baseball team in Perth Australia. He is a graduate of Major League Scout School. Billy's experience in baseball as a player, coach, and scout has given him the tools to pass on his knowledge as an instructor. Billy Bryk remains active as a scout for the Chicago Cubs and pitching coach for the Edmonton Cracker Cats.
