‘Best’ isn’t as great for LaSalle-Peru Print E-mail

JOLIET —Pat Moomey has coached in nine high school baseball state-finals games and witnessed countless more.

But after his Chatham Glenwood team beat LaSalle-Peru 2-1 in eight innings Friday morning in the Class 3A state semifinals, Moomey had no doubt about the best game he’d ever seen.

“That was the best state tournament game I’ve ever been a part of,” Moomey said at Silver Cross Field. “It seemed like every pitch right from the start, the game was hanging on it.”
