ALTON — With its season on the line each game from here on out at the 5th Division Tournament, Marion’s American Legion Post 147 baseball team staved off elimination in its first attempt Tuesday afternoon.


With a make-shift lineup and several key players missing, Marion rode the left arm of Nick Andros and received timely hits from Dillon Turnage and Cody Smith to get past Metropolis Post 306 by an 8-5 margin at Gordon Moore Park’s Hopkins Field.
