Judge Paul Gilfillan has put three sons through Notre Dame High School. The oldest, Ben, made his name as a three-sport standout, with baseball his specialty. His accomplishments in football, basketball and baseball as well as a 4.8 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale earned him academic all-state honors from the Illinois High School Association. He attended the University of Notre Dame. The middle son, Mitch, was a standout in soccer, basketball and baseball. Like his older brother, Mitch was a member of the National Honor Society and earned all-state honors in soccer and basketball before he accepted a basketball scholarship to Lehigh University. The youngest, Cody, is a junior at Notre Dame and — like his brothers — his impact is being felt throughout the school’s campus. He’s already earned all-area honors in soccer and baseball and is one of the first players off the bench for the basketball team. Author:BEN DIGGLE
